Thurrock Adult Community College (TACC) is the adult education service provider in Thurrock for the local authority, Thurrock Council, inspiring futures through lifelong learning. Our mission is to make an impact on the communities where we live and work. We will: * Value, engage and inspire local people to learn and progress * Be responsive to the changing needs of the local people, communities, employers and the economy * Be agile and flexible, using innovative approaches, where appropriate, to make the most efficient use of our resources * Be inclusive, accessible, collaborative and community-focused We develop and deliver a diverse curriculum for Thurrock that addresses low skills, supports people to enter employment in sectors where there are jobs or to retrain and upskill to move out of insecure employment. We aim to reduce digital disadvantage by working across the Council to provide skills development, access to equipment and connectivity. We work collaboratively with communities, employers and agencies responding to changing needs, thus contributing to the social and economic growth of the local area. We run courses that are free of charge including essential English, Maths and Digital skills qualification courses plus free Family Learning, Confidence Boosting and Wellbeing courses. The College has a large programme of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) with a discretionary learner support fund available for those in financial hardship. Qualification courses, up to and including Level 2 could also be free for learners on state benefits or on a low income. Level 3 courses could be free for those who have no achieved a qualification at this level (or higher), subject to ESFA eligibility rules.
