Beat 4 Beat is a music incubator. Its unique model builds a pipeline of musicians from pre-K to tweens to working professionals. By pairing students with working musicians, Beat for Beat scaffolds and sustains Austin’s current music industry, while fostering the next generation of local musicians. It gives voice to students oftentimes overlooked, sustaining today’s music culture, giving local Austin musicians a purpose beyond just performing. Beat for Beat meets students – and musicians - where they are, offering purpose, relevancy, connection, and mentorship. By concentrating on developing a passion for music in kids through after school programs, we aim to ignite a lifelong music appreciation, as well as hands-on technical skills used throughout the music industry – from instruments to digital music. Teaming with musicians as instructors, our programs are structured to empower and enrich students' lives while supporting local musicians and maintaining a vibrant local music scene. Our multi-level approach is rooted with instruction and composition in traditional and digital music. By using practicing musicians, students also learn performance and production skills which helps them reduce stress, improve self esteem, and express creativity. This unique combination of learning ignites the souls of these young musicians, and breathes new life into working musicians giving them opportunities to cultivate the seeds of creativity and expression in someone new.
