Foundation House
www.foundationhouse.comFoundation House is an extended-care substance abuse and mental health treatment program for young adult men. Founded in 2002, Foundation House has built an enduring community of healthy and active young men in one of the top cities for young people in recovery - Portland, Maine. Our program offers a dignified bridge between treatment and living life in the real world. At Foundation House, we have created a non-punitive, peer-supported environment based on trust and allow our residents to navigate real life - by living it. Our core belief is that growth occurs when young men find their way through their own experiences. We teach our residents how to live independently. The experience includes: Beginning and maintaining new relationships. Repairing stressed relationships with family, friends, and loved ones. Finding employment or continuing education. Developing practical spending habits and life skills. Using technology responsibly. Managing medications. Learning how to have fun in sobriety. We have pioneered this dynamic approach to recovery by creating a balance of independence, structure, and community. Residents participate in intensive outpatient and outpatient clinical services Monday to Friday at our main office, just a half-mile from our residences. Our clinical program features individual and group therapy sessions with our master's level clinicians and medication management with our triple board certified psychiatrist. When not participating in clinical services, residents live in three beautiful homes in the heart of Portland, Maine, and have access to a wide variety of extracurricular activities, including: 12-Step groups and activities. Yoga and meditation. Wilderness excursion. Athletic leagues. International trips. And much, much more.
