Rioterra Amazon Studies Center
www.rioterra.org.brWe are an NGO born and based in the Amazon rainforest with 20 years of experience in forest conservation and restoration, and in supporting local communities. Our main office is in Porto Velho, State of Rondônia, Brazil. Our mission and know-how go together: biodiversity conservation, social vulnerabilities reduction and climate change mitigation. We are not big, but we are ambitious, and nowadays one of the few organizations capable of carrying out large-scale restoration in the Amazon. Over the years we have become specialists with unique experience in restoring forests and partnering with grassroots organizations and institutions. Our main project is to plant 15 million trees in the next 10 years. Help us work for the forest! Support our programs! The Amazon is the largest rainforest on earth, essential to life on our planet and to fight climate change. This is the home of indigenous and traditional populations which are its guardians. The forest hosts an incalculable variety of plants and animals, and an estimated 400 billion trees that cool the Earth, store carbon and provide gigantic regions and countries with humidity and rain even thousands of kilometers away. We have opened a representation in Berlin, to be at the heart of the continent and bring together both worlds: the Amazon and Europe.
