CIT Advisory Group, LLC

www.citadvisory.com

CIT Advisory Group (CITAG) was formed to offer consulting services and education to those firms involved in the sales and distribution of CIT funds as Asset Owners, Asset Managers, and Retirement Plan Fiduciaries. CITAG will add value by providing an educational portal to timely and historical information from a variety of industry resources on CIT funds and Collective Trust Services. Why the focus on CIT’s? The number of retirement plans offering collective investment trusts (CITs) to their participants is growing quickly. Callan states in their 2021 Defined Contribution Survey report that over the past decade the use of mutual funds has decreased by nearly 10% while the use of CITs has increased about 25%. CITs in 2018 represented nearly a quarter of total 401(k) assets among plans with more than 100 participants, up from 11% in 2010, according to the Investment Company Institute (ICI) in their 2020 Fact Book. About 40% of all target-date assets, or $800 billion, resided in CITs as of last March, According to Morningstar’s 2020 Target-Date Strategy Landscape report. That was up from less than 20% in 2014. With the dramatic shift in the 401(k) industry landscape, there is a glaring need for quick and easy access to available Trust Company products and services, currently buried in the labyrinth of websites and industry jargon. Additionally, there is a need to help educate many small to midsize Asset Managers, Asset Owners, and Retirement Plan Fiduciaries of the unprecedented explosive growth of CITs in general and especially in the smaller plan market, once dominated by mutual funds. At CIT Advisory Group are purpose is to offer an information hub for Plan Advisors, Plan Consultants, and DCIO’s containing the most current and pertinent information on CIT’s available allowing these constituencies to perform their core Fiduciary responsibilities of Investment Selection and Monitoring effectively and confidently.
