I have been fortunate enough to live and work around the world for the past 25 years, returning to my native Scotland in 2018. As a CEO for global industrial businesses, I have gained first-hand knowledge of the challenges and opportunities that come with leading a global business. The common denominator is people, and I was amazed time and time again by the depth of talent that this diverse world has to offer. This ignited my desire to coach and to help companies and individuals unlock their potential. I am particularly interested in how a culture of inclusivity can set the stage for business success. I work with individuals and teams to build a picture of how they can drive successful business performance. Through the coaching process of assessments, discussion, and exploration, coachees develop a picture of how changes in their style, behavior, skills, and focus can make a big impact. Practical outputs from this coaching can be a successful 100-day plan for a new leader, a business development plan for a new partner in professional services, or addressing a team performance issue successfully. In all cases, it provides the coachee an environment where they can experiment, get feedback, and quickly build confidence in themselves. Coaching style: My coaching style is based on exploring the issues by listening, probing, and challenging. This brings the coachee to focus on what really is at the heart of the issue, and then to develop and commit to an action plan or next move. My personal style is to build trust through friendly, positive, and challenging dialogue and by asking the questions that get you to the answer that is right for you. Humour is a big part of who I am, so having fun in the coaching process is common. I share tips and tricks that I have found useful throughout my career, but only when asked and sparingly.
