The Company was incorporated as Afribank Capital Markets Ltd (ACML) on 22 December 2005 and commenced operations with an initial paid-up share capital of N5 billion to continue the investment banking activities of Afribank International Ltd (Merchant Bankers) following the latter’s merger with Afribank Nigeria PLC. However, following the nationalization of Afribank Nigeria PLC and subsequent change of name to Mainstreet Bank Limited, the name of the Company was again changed to Mainstreet Bank Capital Limited in December 2011. The Bank was sold to Skye Bank Plc in 2014, and by virtue of the its banking license, the Central Bank of Nigeria approved the divestment of its equity interest in MBCL to a group of investors who are seasoned players that have handled big-ticket capital raising, mergers & acquisitions and fixed income transactions in the capital markets to engender new strategies and expand the Company’s business scope.
