Tredecim Honor Society

www.colgatekono.com

The Senior Honor Society (formerly Konosioni) is composed of 26 peer-selected members. The group originated in 1934 when two secret societies, the Skull and Scroll and Gorgon’s Head, resolved to end their “rivalry” and joined together to form Konosioni. Intended to honor the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, the name ‘Konosioni’ has been mistranslated from Mohawk language to incorrectly mean “people of the longhouse.” Today, the Senior Honor Society stands as a peer-selected group of 26 members, representing 13 from each original society, and recognizing outstanding leadership, dedicated service to the community and the preservation of tradition. We, as members of the Senior Honor Society, seek to: (1) Preserve and promote a greater appreciation and understanding of Colgate’s honored heritage and celebrated traditions; (2) Serve as responsible and respected leaders of Colgate, whether on campus or off; (3) Inspire a connection to Colgate’s campus and the surrounding community by seeking to provide an interface between the community and students; (4) Promote the charitable and philanthropic efforts of area organizations as peer-selected stewards of the greater Colgate community.
