Vision: Empowerment of Veterans and Families in the Healing Process Mission: VFU will provide gentle, accessible and holistic healing resources for Veterans and their families 1) Comprehensive website explaining "invisible wounds of war" in layman terminology bridging the gap between military and mental health vocabulary and feedback to those who write with questions within 24 hrs. 2) Presentations at Yellow Ribbon post deployment events. Attendance at Pre-Deployment events to offer supportive information to bridge the gap for civilian family members, particularly for Guard and Reserve. 3) Presentations at Professional Meetings to include ISTSS panel October, 2009, National VA/DoD panel July, 2010, the Oklahoma Counseling Association in 2008, 2009 and 2010. 4) Co-sponsoring specific mental health training for trauma and creating network of practitioners to support vets and family members to healing options.
