The Information Processing Laboratory is part of the Information Systems and Databases Division of the Department of Informatics of the Athens University of Economics and Business. Its main objective is to support the Department's research in the areas it specializes. Director of the laboratory is professor T. Kalamboukis. The laboratory comprises the following closely cooperating research groups: • Information Retrieval Group, headed by professor T. Kalamboukis, • Natural Language Processing Group, headed by assistant professor I. Androutsopoulos. • Group on Algorithms for the Internet and the Web, headed by associate professor M. Sideri The laboratory and its groups participate in national and international research and technological development projects. They also support graduate and undergraduate students who work in the research areas above. The group supports basic and applied research in the field of information retrieval from large textural databases through R&D projects. Also, contributes to the educational activities of the informatics program both on undergraduate and post-graduate levels.
