The JEM Foundation
www.thejemfoundation.comThe JEM Foundation was founded in memory of Jacob Edward Machovsky who was lost to suicide on January 11, 2016. We exist to honor him by helping others. At The JEM Foundation we all have the same goal: to improve the lives of those struggling with mental illness, while providing support for loved ones. It can present challenges for the entire family and we want to be there for everyone. Our mission is to prevent suicide, support positive changes to mental health care, provide support for loved ones caring for someone with a mental illness, all while removing the stigma that surrounds it. We know these are lofty goals, but we know with your help we can succeed. Why do we do what we do? At JEM we know the pain associated with depression and anxiety. The founders Denise and Ben, lost their son to suicide on January 11, 2016. They, along with everyone at JEM are on a mission to ensure that no other family feels the pain associated with suicide, and that no one has to battle any form of mental illness alone and without proper treatment. We strive to help change perceptions about mental health and education is a critical component to removing stigma. Suicide is now the second leading cause of death for people aged 10-24; isn't it about time we change that? Isn't it about time we properly treat individuals struggling with mental illness while providing support for loved ones? Join JEM and fight for proper care, to remove the stigma, and to provide the best care and support.
