Zayed Trail of Tolerance® promises to be the biggest community participation event in the United Arab Emirates honouring tolerance and coexistence, with pledges of hope and well-being for all the different nationalities and groups residing in the UAE. Other prime objectives are to invite participating audiences the opportunity to absorb and experience the rich heritage, culture and history of the UAE, whilst bringing awareness to the importance the UAE plays in contributing and complementing global efforts in environmental and climate change concerns. To this end it is envisaged that residents and groups decorate 200 large beads made from recycled plastic, and be referred to as Zayed Beads®. 200 to represent each of the different nationalities residing in UAE, including diverse groups such as frontline community heroes of the COVID-19 pandemic, people of determination, skilled workers and others. Completed Zayed Beads® will be added to display stands, together with explanatory plaques and put on display at various prominent locations around UAE for people to interact with and post messages of hope and inspiration. This initiative will be set to a trail that will take people to places of interest around UAE, and an app will be available for download to record all bead locations. Discoveries will unlock rewards and prizes. At completion of display, Zayed Beads® will then be gathered from the different locations and delivered to the site of EXPO 2020 in Dubai, where they will be connected by thread in final bead formation and contribute and commemorate the EXPO 2020 official opening in October 2021. The beads will tell a unique story of the UAE and leave a lasting legacy for the world to see and admire. Zayed Trail of Tolerance® is a joint community initiative with the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan.
