Supported living for people with complex mental health needs. People with mental health issues often experience barriers to returning to their locality and into more appropriate forms of care. Others are sometimes placed in restrictive care, in residential and nursing homes that may have little emphasis on promotion of independent living skills. For other people, the lack of access to locally supported services means remaining at home with their families and being reliant on the support of relatives in circumstances of unacknowledged distress.
