Château de Marsannay owns 40 Hectares of organic vineyards, including 28 of the best terroirs of the Marsannay appellation and some of the most famous plots of Côte de Nuits. The estate mainly produces red wines, including 3 exceptional Premiers Crus from Gevrey-Chambertin and Vosne-Romanée and 4 Grands Crus : Chambertin, Ruchottes-Chambertin, Echezeaux and Clos de Vougeot. We also manage the Hospices de Dijon's vineyards, located in Marsannay, Gevrey-Chambertin, Aloxe-Corton, Beaune, Savigny-Lès-Beaune, Pommard and Puligny-Montrachet. The newest generation of winemakers is involved in making the Marsannay appelation well-known throughout the world. 14 Climats should soon be classified as Premier CRU by the INAO (French organization charged with regulating French agricultural products with Protected Designations of Origin). Half of theses are farmed organicaly. KEY POINTS Owner-Grower : 100% of the harvested grapes come from our own vineyards Surface : 89 acres in Côte de Nuits and 10 acres belonging to the Hospices de Dijon in Côte d'Or Soil : marl and crinoidal limestone full of fossil fragments from the Middle Jurassic Grape variety : 100% Pinot Noir for the reds and 100% Chardonnay for the whites Ageing : 12 to 18 months in French oak barrels
