Laura Radwell, Artist
www.lauraradwell.comLaura Radwell: Digital Abstracts My attention is drawn to underappreciated details of color, surface deterioration, and the geometry all around us. The work begins when I photograph, for instance, old metal, tree bark, and chipping paint—aspects of the world that exemplify the Japanese concept of Wabi-sabi, the celebration of imperfection and impermanence. I create a palette with these images, using them as if applying colors from tubes of paint, moving the work beyond the more traditional concept of photomontage. In losing their literal quality, original elements are transformed into abstractions which invite broad interpretation and the suspension of habitual perception. Limited edition prints are available on 100% archival, on HahnemÜhle Cotton Rag paper, in different sizes, framed or unframed. Some works are printed on aluminum dibond metal.
