Sports Backers, is a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit organization whose mission is to inspire all corners of our community to live actively. Over the past 28 years, Sports Backers has developed programs and events that are designed to inspire people from all corners of our community to live actively. We achieve this work by focusing on a network of collaborative partnerships with other organizations, businesses, local governments and faith based institutions. In order to have transformational change, we realize we can’t do it all alone, but rather we work to build a movement of change in our community to make active living the easy choice. Sports Backers owns and produces 17 annual events that include some of the largest and most successful of their kind in the country. Our events include: Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10K presented by Kroger VCU Health Richmond Marathon Markel Richmond Half Marathon Allianz Partners 8k Dominion Energy Riverrock Anthem Corporate Run Virginia Credit Union Moonlight Ride Cougar 7v7 Field Hockey Tournament Patrick Henry Half Marathon Run Bike Relay presented by Ragnar Walmart Biz Bowl Trails and Ales International Dragon Boat Festival kaléo Marathon Jr. Virginia 529 Kids Run CarMax Tacky Light Run Uncorked Half & 5k Sports Backers operates programs to further cultivate active living across the Metro Richmond region, including Bike Walk RVA, Fitness Warriors, and Kids Run RVA programs.
