MNS is an interdepartmental effort between Physics and Chemistry. Our society is dedicated to bringing together a community dedicated to supporting our students in nanotechnology, nanoscience, and materials, fostering interest and furthering professional skills in the Nano field. The Society represents students at the departmental, faculty, and University level. We are a voting member of Science Society, supporting transparency, accountability, and financial responsibility. We offer hands-on professional development skills and training in rigorous labs (eg. Superhydrophobic Surfaces production, Quantum Dots, and Ferrofluids) which have helped students gain valuable experience for their résumé. Waterloo's Materials & Nanosciences Program is ranked in the top 100 Materials Science Programs worldwide (QS World University Rankings 2015-2016) and an affiliated undergraduate program of the Waterloo Institute of Nanotechnology.
