www.detroitfoodpc.orgThe Detroit Food Policy Council (DFPC) is an advisory, monitoring and implementation body that is committed to nurturing the development and maintenance of a food-secure City of Detroit in which all of its residents are hunger-free, healthy and benefit economically from the food system that impacts their lives. The DFPC is a resident-driven organization and is governed by a 21 member board that operates on a consensus decision making model. Our values are Justice, Respect, Integrity, Inclusion and Transparency. The Detroit Food Policy Council was established in 2009 by unanimous approval of The Detroit City Council. The DFPC consists of twenty-one members, including twelve (12) representatives from various sectors of the Food System, six (6) "at-large" representatives and three (3) governmental representatives, one each from the Mayor's Office, City Council and The Department of Health and Wellness Promotion (DHWP). Members serve as individuals. The DFPC Operates as a 501c3 non-profit organization. Each year the Detroit Food Policy Council hosts the Detroit Food Summit.
