With a roster of up to 25 firefighters and 5 cadets, BRTFD provides fire suppression, emergency medical response and fire prevention services. Our fleet of apparatus includes two class A engines, one 2000 gallon water tender, two wild land fire units, one medical rescue/multi-purpose truck, one cascade air filling trailer and an off road UTV. Our staff is "volunteer" in that we only get paid while on an emergency call. BRTFD serves Big Rapids Township and has automatic/mutual aid agreements with surrounding departments. BRTFD strives to provide a professional response to all emergencies and other calls for assistance. Our administrative staff has 68 years of combined experience.
