The Australian Institute of Robotic Orthopaedics (AIRO) is a private, independent medical research organisation dedicated to enhancing patient outcomes by accelerating the convergence of innovation and surgical excellence. Established in 2015, AIRO was founded by leading Australian orthopaedic surgeon scientists Professor Riaz Khan and Associate Professor Daniel Fick, and Managing Director, Associate Professor Brett Robertson. Working in partnership with local and international universities and leading private organisations, AIRO is collaborating with experts in biomedical and robotic engineering, computer science, molecular and cellular science, biomechanics, physiotherapy and psychology to study and develop industry-leading, evidence-based technology that offers unparalleled function and precision. The fundamental driver of AIRO is to restore quality of life to patients through the development of next generation orthopaedic surgical systems. Our research and development activities are driven through strong clinical interactions to deliver a step change improvement in evidence based, surgical precision.
