Redwood Llamas, located in the historic mining town of Silverton, Colorado, operates in the beautiful San Juan Mountains of southwestern Colorado under a permit of the San Juan National Forest. Our season runs from mid-June through October. July and August are springtime in the Rockies, blanketed with wildflowers of vibrant colors. September brings on fall when the hunting lease season begins and the aspens turn a vivid gold color, a short but incredible season. We maintain an 850 acre dryland ranch located on the Colorado-Utah border. During the off season the training, conditioning and breeding of llamas is accomplished. A herd of 100 llamas plus the babies roam the pastures and canyons. Most of the llamas in the pack string are raised on the ranch which has been in operation for 35 years. We breed for performance and athletic pack llamas from North American bloodlines.
