The Department of Chemistry is the University of Copenhagen's center for research and teaching in chemistry. The department deals with studies of the properties, interactions and transformations of substances and materials. Chemistry is of crucial importance to society and business, e.g. in energy, sustainability, the environment and health. Department of Chemistry contributes to the development of new or improved substances, materials and processes, as well as the education of bachelor nad master students to the highest level. The department is responsible for a chemistry education with specialization in, among other things, green and sustainable chemistry, in medicinal chemistry and in atmosphere chemistry. In addition, the department contributes to educations in biochemistry, molecular biomedicine, environmental chemistry and health, biotechnology / biochemistry, medicinal chemistry and nanoscience.
