A Taste of Harmony
www.tasteofharmony.org.auWe’re encouraging Australians to celebrate cultural diversity at work by sharing a meal & conversation from March 15-31, 2023. Share your stories with the hashtag #atoh23 The concept is simple: workmates bring a dish that tells a story about their own cultural heritage and influences to share with colleagues. These stories at the shared table offer an opportunity to discover ‘A taste of what makes Australia great’. Workplaces play an important role in driving social cohesion, and for many businesses, diversity and inclusion is key to remaining competitive and relevant in a fast-changing world. Research into culturally diverse organisations points to a range of tangible and intangible benefits, including increased productivity, better problem solving, greater innovation and insights into new markets overseas. Valuing cultural diversity is also essential for meeting the challenges of skill shortages, global labour market competition and an ageing population. A Taste of Harmony offers an easy, free and fun opportunity for individuals and organisations big and small to show their commitment to cultural diversity. Workplaces from every industry are encouraged to participate by gathering colleagues together over a delicious lunch made up of foods from different lands. Employees will learn something new about each other, and be guaranteed a good feed! A Taste of Harmony is an initiative of the Scanlon Foundation held in March each year to coincide with Harmony Day. The 2016 event attracted close to 320,000 participants and 5,300 workplaces nationally. Register now at www.tasteofharmony.org.au to participate and celebrate our cultural diversity in the most delicious way!
