The Northwest Ohio Regional Information System (NORIS) was founded in 1974 to provide records automation and information sharing among jurisdictions in Lucas County, Ohio and has grown to serve 130 criminal justice agencies in Lucas County and surrounding counties of Northwest Ohio. In 2014, NORIS supported over 2,800 users on the NORIS network. NORIS has a staff of 33 employees that provide hardware support and develop software applications to meet the specific needs of local, state, and federal agencies in this area. NORIS processes 12 million transactions per month, maintains criminal histories on 700,000 people, and offers on-line access to over 100,000+ active warrants. Eight million entries, queries and updates to state and federal computer systems are completed through NORIS annually. NORIS is governed by the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC). Members of the CJCC serve on the NORIS Advisory Committee (NAC) to review policies regarding budgeting, operation, and procedure for NORIS in order to maintain the operation and maintenance of the integrated computer systems used by multiple law enforcement, court, and corrections agencies. The NORIS staff meets regularly with users to review matters pertaining to the overall operation of NORIS. Additional forums are held, as needed, to ensure quality products and customer satisfaction. The NORIS data warehouse contains more than 100,000,000 automated criminal justice information records. NORIS has proven to be a valuable, cost effective resource for law enforcement, court, correction, and probation agencies.
