Seafood Alliance for Legality and Traceability

www.salttraceability.org

The Seafood Alliance for Legality and Traceability (SALT) is a global community sharing knowledge and acting to promote legal and sustainable fisheries through improved transparency in seafood supply chains. SALT brings together the seafood industry, governments, and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) to accelerate learning and support collaboration on innovative solutions for legal and sustainable seafood. It focuses particularly on traceability–the ability to track the movement of seafood through supply chains. At the end of its five-year project, SALT envisions an interconnected seafood community that uses comprehensive electronic catch documentation and traceability (eCDT) systems to share valuable information to help prevent mislabeled and illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) products from entering the market, strengthen effective fisheries management, and support legal and equitable human welfare conditions for seafood laborers. SALT is a public-private partnership between USAID and the Walton Family, Packard and Moore Foundations and is implemented by FishWise, a non-profit sustainable seafood consultancy. To learn more about SALT visit our website or contact us at salt@fishwise.org.
