Suffolk’s location in the heart of Boston enables you to study communication in one of the Top 10 U.S. media markets and in a vital, urban environment. As a Communication and Journalism major, you will work with our experienced teacher-scholars in small group settings in the classroom, studio and field. Your professors care deeply about your personal growth and career development. They are eager to work with you to develop your portfolio for the emerging global job market and graduate school, as you take classes in your respective major—Global & Cultural Communication, Journalism, or Media/Film. You will have access to smart classrooms, state-of-the-art computer labs, a specialized video production classroom and editing lab, and a television studio. You will learn to use industry-standard digital cameras, lighting and sound equipment, as well as non-linear editing software. You will also have opportunities to work with one of our co-curricular activities. Students are encouraged to hone their skills by writing for our award-winning student newspaper/online publications, The Suffolk Journal or The Suffolk Voice, by joining the student video-club, RamCam Productions, or by getting in front of the camera reporting as part of Suffolk in the City features on New England Cable News.
