History of FAS: The factory was established in 1972 by the requests from the New Zealand Governments Educational Department (NZED) as they searched for high quality paints to meet the standards required for the New Zealand School Market. In 1972 NZED found no paint products met these standards so Frank Aitken-Smith (FAS) was asked to formulate higher quality art paint for the New Zealand schools. Thus; FAS | Fine Art Supplies was born and overnight became and still is today the leading brand of educational paints in New Zealand.
