York Rescue Boat is an independent lifeboat set up in 2014 after a series of deaths in the rivers of York. Uniquely as well as a 24/7 call out system we patrol York at high risk times, both by boat and with foot patrols, engaging with vulnerable people around the rivers. We have a memorandum of understanding in place with North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue to enable them to call us to water incidents in an emergency. We provide education visits to schools, colleges, scout groups etc on how to safely enjoy rivers and lakes. In addition we provide a nationally declared Flood Rescue Team which has been called to national flooding events across the UK.
