VIXEN ELECTRONICS LIMITED is a consumer electronics company based in Hemel Hempstead, HERTS, United Kingdom. We have developed a system (VEMS) that supports older and disabled persons to continue living in their own home, but with a very discrete level of monitoring that gives them and their families reassurance that 'everything is OK'. VEMS captures the person's activity as well as the temperature and humidity in the house, it builds a model of the customer activity and compares the actual readings to the model. If the data captured deviates from the expected VEMS starts 'getting worried' and when the worry reaches a certain level VEMS notifies persons who have been nominated as contacts. The system is made up of one or small boxes that sit in the rooms where the customer spends most of their time. The monitoring is NON INTRUSIVE, no voice recording or video; the customer is happy that there is no 'snooping' going on, but feels reassured that if anything happens their friends and/or family will be notified, and the family is reassured for the same reason. The MISSION of Vixen Electronics is to make VEMS available to thousands of families in the UK who are worried about elderly or disabled relatives that live on their own. Our VISION is to make it available to families across the world, and also to networks of friends who have no family and who rely on each other for help and support.
