21 Dreams Arts & Culture, Inc. was founded in 2016 with the goal of retaining local artists in the city of Montgomery by cultivating an arts community of creatives sharing their talents through various mediums. Our intention around artists playing a role in community and economic development has been core to our mission; enabling us to create a narrative that centers people and culture. Over the last six years, the organization has operated as an incubator for artists to perfect their craft and expand their networks, that further affirm talent and center their identity. A core aspect of our vision is programming that is accessible and inclusive. We ensure this by creating spaces in which the work of emerging and established artists are represented and celebrated through exhibitions, strategic partnerships, and educational initiatives that expand across sectors and communities. In recent years, we have entered public and private sector partnerships through creative placemaking, storytelling through theater arts, and by operating as a conduit for our military community using art as a form of therapy. Most recently we have engaged Tuskegee University’s Urban Agriculture Initiative to address food sustainability through culinary arts and revitalizing the historic Peacock Tract neighborhood. The work of 21 Dreams has been steadfast in our belief that the artists and communities we support generate the culture that is foundational to the history of the city and informs the future we’re reimagining.
