La Cabane's mission is to defend the right of children to an education that reflects current challenges and realities, allowing them to live a meaningful life from an early age. Through an educational approach based on the four pillars of Mitchel Resnick's creative pedagogy at the MIT Media Lab (passion, peers, projects and fun), we will work in partnership with educators, both parents and teachers, to balance the power dynamics between child and adult. Our guides will help and support children to become autonomous learners throughout their lives, actors rather than spectators of their own learning and citizens who feed on and contribute to their communities. Children will therefore be led to create and question, while following their own rhythm and interests. At La Cabane, education is not a preparation for life, but rather life itself, as John Dewey, the great 20th century teacher, so aptly put it.
