TÜMAŞ – Turkish Engineering, Consulting & Contracting Co. was established in 1969 with the participation of Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO), Nitrogen Industry Co. (TÜGSAŞ), Turkish Sugar Factories Co. (TÜRKŞEKER), Şeker Insurance Co. and Haldor Topsoe A/S (Denmark) under the leadership of the State Planning Organization and as per the law numbered 6224 on encouraging foreign investments. Today, %51 of the shares belongs to private sector and %49 of the shares was transferred to Sümer Holding in the year 2001 according to the decision of Turkey Prime Ministry Privatization Administration. The main objective for the establishment of TÜMAŞ was to develop engineering and consulting services in the country in cooperation with international and specialized engineering companies, to help improve the technology transfer and ‘know-how’ as the country needs in order to be ready to carry on complete projects applying high technology with its staff from several specialization fields, to try to find out more rational and improved methods and to usher applying and improving them. For this purpose, TÜMAŞ has maintained its leadership role in the development of Turkish Engineering Services with successfully completed approximately 1000 projects at both home and abroad since 1969 and has been qualified as “International Engineering and Consulting Company” serving internationally with its specialist staff more than 300 members and its strong financial structure in all engineering and consulting branches required.
