Eastchurch Holiday Centre Ltd

www.eastchurchholidaycentre.co.uk

The park began when our founder Mr Lewis purchased an old barn and adjoining piece of land that housed a couple of old chalets. Converting the barn into a clubhouse and rebuilding the chalets forming the first Eastchurch Holiday Centre Park with 56 chalets in total. The park was an instant success so Mr Lewis purchased another plot of land called Pleasant View; following the trend at the time for caravans he installed concrete bases across the plot and turned it into the Pleasant View Caravan Park which includes 86 caravans. By now the ground work was getting too much for one person so the parks began to hire in staff from the local community and very quickly had the opportunity to expand further when another vacant plot became available; the grounds around an old house called Cliff Cottage. Replacing the house with chalets created the Cliff Cottage Chalet Park with 40 chalets within it. The holiday park was booming by this time, providing almost 200 residences, and when some more neighbouring fields came onto the market Mr Lewis snapped them up, installing more concrete bases creating the Sunnymead Caravan Park with 144 caravans in it. At almost the same time yet another plot became available just across the road which included a small shop. Refurbishing the shop into the General Stores and constructing a laundry building nearby, the land also accommodated 182 further caravans becoming known as Sunnymead 2.
