Global Energy Initiative is an international not-for-profit organization with the mission of promoting sustainable energy for all, to fight energy poverty, protect the environment, and mitigate the effects of climate change. The Initiative aims to create a new energy paradigm that will contribute to more equitable economic and social development—to the benefit of humanity in general—with a primary focus on the the developing and least developed countries in particular. To this end, Global Energy Initiative organizes public discussion forums; educates people on judicious energy use, environmental protection, and the effects of climate change; promotes research and technological advancement on energy efficiency; and supports projects that help to eliminate energy poverty. Global Energy Initiative is dedicated to the broader principles and guidelines adopted by the United Nations for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and will contribute to the success of 2014-2024: The Decade of Sustainable Energy for All.
