Studio 1 Labs

www.studio1labs.ca

A new class of sensing, Studio 1 Labs are creators of 'Touch' Fabric Pressure Sensors. Electronics that can fold, function, and define moments how humans feel with touch. Valuing collaboration, credibility, and transparency, our group of international stakeholders are working together in bringing new hardware and semiconductor technology to define the most relevant sensor information, with precision. Our feature use-case of fabric sensor technology is an intelligent bed sheet where patients only need to lay on a bed to have their health monitored. With zero effort to the patient, the bed sheet can monitor for: - Fall prevention, - Pressure ulcers, and - Continuous respiratory monitoring. It can pinpoint health deterioration faster by detecting abnormal breathing patterns that lead to declining lung function.  The outer layer of the intelligent bed sheet is protected by fabrics being used for PPE. Meeting ANSI/AAMI Standards for Level 1-4 gowns and coveralls, we've delivered over 200 tonnes of medical materials worldwide to support health institutions during Covid. Supported by: SOSCIP Smart Computing for Innovation, Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council, National Research Council of Canada, Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, Ontario Centres of Excellence, The Regional Municipality of York, Accelerator Centre, Innovation York, MaRS Discovery District, Communitech, ventureLAB, IBM, CENGN, and multiple academic institutions on building solutions using transformative and exponential technologies. Patent portfolios are administered by Ridout & Maybee LLP.
