TARA Child Protection & Empowerment India
www.taraindia.orgWe protect and educate more than 150 children in New Delhi, India. Our children learn English, they have manners and a lot of self-confidence. They do NOT look like NGO children! We run 5 programs: - TARA Boys, for 20 boys aged 6 to 18, created in 2008, - TARA Tots, for 20 girls and boys under age 10, created in 2012, - TARA Big Birds, aftercare program for former Tara children, - TARA Girls, for 20 girl children aged 6 to 18, opened in 2015, - TARA Outreach Centre, a day care centre for street children or at risk of becoming street children Our TARA home programs host 20 children per home maximum as we believe that a smaller family-like environment best enables children to overcome past difficulties and achieve their potential. The projects are managed by a qualified and experienced child psychologist, as well as qualified social workers and administrators. The children are currently receiving an education in various reputed schools in South Delhi. Qualified teachers provide support for their homework and tuition. Members of the staff and volunteer team come from countries all around the world, as well as from India. This exposure to international cultures helps our children gain understanding of different races and cultures and fosters tolerance and sensitivity to different view-points, values and opinions. Everyday we are impressed by the huge strides they are making, and we believe that one day these children will serve their country at the highest level. You too, be part of the CHANGE, contribute to our actions!
