University of Pécs, Faculty of Law
ajk.pte.huLegal studies have always been an important component of academic programmes at the University of Pécs. In fact, university education in Pécs dates back to 1367, making it one of the first universities in Europe. The Faculty of Law of the University of Pécs first and foremost offers legal education in the form of a five-year unified master programme, but has a growing number of BA and LL.M. level programmes as well. International relations are a vital part of the life of the Faculty. We offer a selection of courses in foreign languages (mostly in English and German) as part of the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. The number of our Erasmus partner universities and, as a result, the number of students and lecturers taking part in the mobility scheme is increasing every year – at present the Faculty has 54 Erasmus partner universities all over Europe. The Faculty also takes part in the University of Pécs ‘Study Abroad’ Programme, offering a semester-long study programme for incoming international students. The Faculty of Law offers a full Doctoral Programme in English. Eligible incoming students can even make use of the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme. The Faculty is quite active not only in education but scientific research as well: among others it organises international conferences and publishes journals in English as well. The latter include the Pécs Journal of International and European Law and the Journal of Eastern European Criminal Law (co-published with West University of Timisoara). The Law Library and the European Documentation Centre located in the regional Knowledge Centre offer a wide range of up-to-date textbooks and research materials for both students and lecturers. Last but not least, the City of Pécs is a multicultural town in the heart of Europe with a high number of international students from all over the world, offering a great social experience as well to incoming foreign students.
