Our Daily Bread Ukraine
www.ourdailybread.nlOur Daily Bread works hard to give vulnerable and disadvantaged people in Eastern Ukraine a more dignified life. The hostilities in Eastern Ukraine have hit the marginalised there particularly hard. We want to do more than give them short-term support in the form of food and clothing. We want to help them stand on their own two feet and earn their own income. We have two goals: 1) Funding practical outreach projects: current focus is renovating a rehab centre for alcoholics and realising a farm there. 2) Creating jobs through funding small businesses. current focus is the agricultural sector to improve the resilience of village communities. Our principles We are a Christian organisation and the Bible guides and informs our actions. Our work is based on the Christian principles of compassion and good stewardship. Who are we? Our Daily Bread has no employees. The three board members are experienced business people. Our partners We work through partner churches in Eastern Ukraine. Our relationship with these partners is based on mutual trust, respect, equality and reciprocity. How we see A vital aspect of our work is “seeing through their eyes”. Eastern Ukraine is vastly different from the West and also very different from Western Ukraine. There is a minimal welfare state, most people have little or no savings, and half of the workforce have few if any skills. How we work We only fund businesses and projects with a clear business plan that we have approved. And any funding provided always has to be matched. This means the recipient has to invest something in the project or business we fund. That can be in cash or in kind. Why? Because we want to help people to learn to take initiative and assume responsibility for their lives. What you can do? Interested in our work?
