UDRI (Prostate MRI Teaching Course)
www.prostatemri-udri.orgThe UDRI is a 1901 association founded in 2003 by Drs Didier Bonnel and François Cornud*. Its goal is to promote interventional abdominal and pelvic imaging, mainly male pelvis. To do so, it organizes a continuing medical education program and clinical research projects. Different continuing education programs adapted to all levels : The association organizes 2 training workshops per year on prostate MRI : • one training workshop is national, held in French, and • one training workshop is held in English, aimed at reaching a European audience. The workshops are validated by a French or European accreditation. The association also organizes five intensive MRI Prostate Training Seminars a year, from Wednesday at 3:30 pm to Friday at 4:30 pm for groups of two to four radiologists, who offer attendees a two-and-a-half-day immersion. The seminars are organized according to the level of the registrants (beginner/intermediate or advanced). Since 2017, the association aims to propagate in France the practice of interventional procedures under real-time MRI guidance and to demonstrate the feasibility and accuracy of this guidance for deep organ biopsy, including the prostate. Prostate biopsy has the particularity to benefit from the assistance of an MRI compatible robot, which we have purchased, to shorten the biopsy duration time and increase its accuracy. In 2018, the UDRI plans to go beyond the diagnostic biopsy field and to demonstrate that it is possible to treat selectively (focal treatment) under MRI guidance and using a laser fiber, some prostate cancers with a low risk of progression.
