zoarchitecten is a lover of places. Places with meaning. Beautiful places, atmospheric places. But also abandoned places., leftover places, backsides. Carefully designed places and places created by chance. Captivating places. Places in the city and inside buildings. Always it is about the love for the place. In our projects zoarchitecten search for a design solution that is both appropriate and surprising. zoarchitecten wants to make feel-good architecture, not show-off architecture. Architecture that touches the heart of the matter. Architecture that is stripped of the superfluous, non-dogmatic and pleasantly pragmatic, so its value will be maintained throughout the years. In almost ten years now zoarchitecten has been working on many different types of projects. Ranging from urban projects, like the regeneration of the Nieuwe Binnenweg in Rotterdam (NL), to interiors, like the recent refurbishment of urban espresso bar west. Besides designing zoarchitecten is also involved with studies, visions and quality plans for local governments. zoarchitecten is the office of Joep Klabbers (1969). His open minded, enthusiastic and concerned approach transfers his love of simple architecture and details. The name of the office is like the design result: to the point, simple but not banal.
