Amis Des Ecoles

Amis Des Écoles is dedicated to improving the future of Moroccan children in rural regions by alleviating poverty through educational and economic opportunities. Everything we do is guided by our values of gender equality, equal access to opportunity, tolerance and solidarity, and community engagement. We believe that true uplift of any child must engage a range of community stakeholders. At Amis des Écoles, we employ a community-centered approach wherein we strategize with families and leaders of each community to identify needs and determine solutions. Rather than working within the confines of one area of development such as education or nutrition, Amis des Écoles holistically supports each partner locale to foster multi-dimensional, sustainable development. Since our founding by Amal Zniber and Abdelmajid Dahbi Skali in 2006, Amis des Écoles and our wonderful partner communities have made incredible strides in increasing students' access to education, good nutrition, and clean water. By starting women's empowerment programs, we also seek to engage and uplift local mothers and young women by teaching marketable artisan trades, computer skills, and providing washing machines to lessen the burden of domestic work. Since 2006, Amis des Écoles has installed 370 toilets in schools and built 132 fountains and 45 wells. We have renovated and insulated schools and classrooms in areas of the country where bitter winters keep students and teachers from thriving and distributed over 11,000 books to 26 school libraries. We have facilitated over 300 community workshops on topics like violence prevention, cyber bullying, and drug abuse, and donated supplies to over 50,000 people in the region. Amis des Écoles' work is vast and ongoing, so join us by donating funds or skills to help our community partners thrive.
