Retra NV (Recuperatie- en transportmaatschappij nv) today is one of Flanders' most successful scrap metal processors. Its story began in 1979 when two companies (Van Heygen and Casier Recycling) built the first car shredder installation. In 1990 a new installation in order to process non-ferrous metals and a decommissioning centre were added. Today these three units together are still part of Retra NV. Retra NV has a driven and experienced labour force and processes 80 000 tons of scrap metal each year. This Small enterprise has a yearly turnover of 12 to 15 million euro. Retra NV is part of Galloo Recycling and Casier Recycling, it is also a member of COBEREC (Confederation of Belgium Recuperation companies).
