HearAngel is a new app that enables you to listen as loud as you want for as long as is safe. At birth you have 15,000 auditory hair cells in each ear; you don’t get any more and when they are gone they are gone. Exposure to large sound doses destroys your hair cells and permanently damages your hearing. The biggest cause of large sound doses is headphone use. 68% of headphone users are aware of the risks though few act as the only tool you currently is the volume warning on your smartphone, which if adhered to makes your content inaudible in many common listening situations. As a result headphone users ignore the warnings and listen too loud, for too long and risk permanent hearing loss. The solution is to allow you to listen as loud as you wish for as long as is safe. HearAngel® addresses this need by providing you with easy to understand dose based information and optional protection. There are two versions of the app, one for you as a parent to control your children’s exposure and Individual control; for you to manage your own.
