The 1984 is the brainchild of Andreas Junus and Irawandhani Kamarga, both were art directors who love to explore crafty executions. Together with fellow ad men Johansyah Moechtar handling the managing side, we established The 1984 as a Jakarta based creative consultant. Focusing on brand development and experiences, many of the brands we handle have unique and sharply differentiated positioning. The diverse projects and personalities we experienced in the past 7 years have set ourselves up for an exciting journey of explorative problem solving in design. It’s not uncommon for us to dye entire batches of cloth to our client’s colors, or somehow jury-rig a thirty year-old printing machine to work the way it’s supposed to. We realized that we couldn’t always be creatives, sometimes we had to be mechanics, or mad scientists.
