The Family Center, also known as The South Central Family Center, Inc., is an independent non-profit organization located in Columbia, Tennessee, and is dedicated to empowering individuals to break the cycle of poverty. The Family Center is committed to improving and enhancing lifestyles, especially those adversely affected by poverty. Poverty is a very sneaky enemy, and it can strike at any time. Poverty, defined as the lack of minimum food and shelter necessary for maintaining life, is spreading; and hopelessness and despair are rising. Millions upon millions of Americans are in pain and they need some solutions. Perhaps most frightening is that poverty can become a self-perpetuating cycle. That is exactly what The Family Center tries to divert. Two new programs of the Family Center were developed to assist in the transition from poverty to independence. The SOS (Sustainable Occupation Services) Program, and the MILEstones Program (Mentoring for Independent Living Essentials. Check back soon to learn about the latest developments in these two programs.
