Get real experience on the Lazy Susan’s stage with tuition and guidance from some of Perth’s top comics to help you explore the world of Improv, write a stand-up routine or get stuck into sketch comedy. STAND UP If you've ever wanted to try your hand at stand up comedy but didn't know where to start then guess what? You've found where to start. Work with a professional, gigging, stand up comedian as they take you through writing and stage craft workshops so you can create your first stand up routine. Hone your ability to find a comic perspective, construct a set up and deliver a punch line. Practicing on the Lazy Susan's stage you will get to work with microphone technique, stage presence and the feel of the spotlight. At the end of the course you will have written a five minute routine and have the opportunity to perform in front of a live crowd. This is the opportunity you've been waiting for, the push in the comic direction the bucket list moment. "Do it!" SKETCH COMEDY Learn the basics of sketch construction, using satire and parody and mining the zeitgeist for comedy gold. We will have you generating new sketch ideas, working collaboratively and writing your first drafts. Wield your mighty pen and get your sketch on. This is a safe environment to learn and test your skills in the comedy world. You will be writing and don’t need to get up in front of an audience… until you are ready. IMPROV COMEDY Learn the subtle art of making stuff up…on the spot…in front of an audience. It takes a quick mind, heaps of guts and a sense of adventure. This is a six week course that looks at the basics of improv: listening, creating characters and having fun. Level 1 is for for beginners that requires no previous acting or comedy experience.
