Operation Clean Machine

www.operationcleanmachine.ngo

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides free wheelchair and scooter cleaning for United States military veterans. Founded by veterans for veterans. The majority of veterans confined to a mobility device, such as a wheelchair or scooter, have to spend some, most, or all of their time in their wheelchair or scooter. In a sense, their mobility device is their home--for waking, sleeping, eating, and all other daily activities and bodily functions. Not only do veterans have to constantly handle the upkeep of this "home," they also have to deal with potentially harmful ongoing bacteria and pathogen buildup on their wheelchair or scooter. Most veterans rely on a family member or caretaker for this cleaning. Veterans run the risk of their devices being improperly or insufficiently cleaned. Most mobility devices simply do not get cleaned at all. Unfortunately, many veterans with dirty or improperly cleaned wheelchairs and scooters also run the risk of spreading built-up pathogens and contaminants. Since doctors’ offices and hospitals are places veterans visit frequently for treatments, checkups, etc, this creates a particularly dangerous threat for these places or for any other place the veteran goes with his or her device. To alleviate the burden and stress of cleaning mobility devices, Operation Clean Machine offers free Cleaning Clinics for veterans with wheelchairs and scooters. We believe each and every veteran deserves a clean "home."
