Masia de Parranca

www.masiadeparranca.com

Masia de Parrancà is a 36Ha privately owned estate dedicated to olive farming and high-end market olive oil production located inside ‘El Carrascal de la Font Roja’ Nature Reserve, close to the historic city of Alcoi in the northern part of the Province of Alicante (Communidad Valenciana), Spain. Situated only 25 kilometres from the coast of the Mediterranean at an elevation of 800 meters (2600 ft.) above sea level, our olive groves nestle in the foothills of the ‘Sierra de Menachaor’ overlooking the ‘Polop’ valley, surrounded by lush forests of Mediterranean pine and oak grazed by wild mouflon goat and boar. Our stunning, terraced landscape has been home to some of the earliest human occupation in this region of Spain, going back 8,000 years to the Neolithic, and followed by Bronze Age Iberians, Romans and Moorish settlements. In Roman times, olive oil from these mountains was brought to the imperial capital Rome for consumption by the era’s elite. Later, oak from the foothills of ‘Sierra de Menachaor’ was used to build the galleons of the Spanish Armada and the vessels that discovered and traded with the Americas. The current estate and its olive groves have their origins in the 1850s, and have been preserved to the present day through manual agricultural methods. Produced from century-old olive trees of the rare, indigenous and ‘par excellence’ variety of Alfafarenca growing organically in their natural habitat under unique climatic conditions and surrounded by pure, untouched flora and fauna, our slow, gravity cleared, artisanal olive oil bursts with light, organic freshness and colour, underpinned by powerful flavours and aromas of wild aromatic herbs, limestone, hardwood and old world ‘terroir’. Privileged, noble, elegant and entirely exclusive. Owing to its unique repertoire of flavours and aromas the Masia de Parrancà Premium Culinary Grade Extra Virgin Olive Oil is ideally suited for artistic culinary expression, or as palate preparation.
