Using an external reference allows the AR&L – ER to capture the runway’s true profile; all bumps, dips and grade changes regardless of wavelength. This modern adaptation of the most trusted form of topographical surveying, APR’s AR&L – ER can measure a true elevation data point every foot (.25m) accurate to 1mm. It can measure a 10,000-foot (3,048m) line of survey in less than one hour. Airport pavement roughness is not APR’s only specialty. APR’s unique technology is used to track profile shape changes and their effect on aircraft ride quality. Runways, as big as they are, can move over time due to traffic, settlement or heaving.
