The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) is a premier Business School which has earned a reputation for excellence in academic activities and industry interactions. It holds the fourth position among management institutes as per the NIRF India Rankings 2021: Management. It is also recognized as the second most innovative educational institution under the CFIs (non-technical) category in the ARIIA rankings, the only IIM to feature in the ARIIA top rankings. It is also globally accredited by EQUIS (EFMD) and AMBA (UK). The Institute was set up by the Government of India, in collaboration with the State Government of Kerala, as the 5th Indian Institute of Management. It aims to emerge as an internationally reckoned management centre with the motto of 'Globalizing Indian Thought.' It conducts an array of academic activities involving research, teaching, training, consulting, and intellectual infrastructure development to help improve the management systems globally. It emphasizes the development of analytical skills while gracefully balancing global and cross-cultural issues to mold business leaders into assets for society and maintain the equilibrium between business and social concerns. It strives to inculcate perspective building, teamwork, co-operation, and harmony among its stakeholders. IIMK, along with its flagship PGP programme, also has a PGP Finance program and a PGP Liberal Studies & Management programme, which it commenced in 2020. It also offers FPM, MDP, and FDP programmes and an EPGP programme that it runs in its satellite campus in Kochi. Moreover, IIMK started the Laboratory for Innovation, Venturing and Entrepreneurship (LIVE) in June 2016. The centre is envisioned to function as a business incubator with the purpose of creating a National Centre of Excellence to promote innovation and entrepreneurship. Currently, Prof. Debashis Chatterjee is the director of the Institute.
